Essentially, these are candied cherries, and they are definitely one of the most delicious items to come from our kitchen. You might be more familiar with the bleached and colored, green and red ones found in the store that are used in fruitcake. Ours are the real thing, and they take 14 days to make from start to finish. They are great in baking (shortbread or quickbreads), or just to eat as a treat.
