Moms need some time out to recharge and relax...well...so do kids, and, anyone! Paint Night is recent trend gaining in popularity, and diversity. It's easy to see why. It allows even the most critical of their creative abilities to create something beautiful, it's social time with friends, it often involves delicious food and drink (and who doesn't love that?!), and it's a night out to do something different.
To kick off Open Farm Days 2017 this year we decided to host Paint Night in the Orchard. Approaching our orchard is a large grassy field, an area we usually use for wide games with our family and friends. We set up in the corner of that field, up against a row of columnar birch trees, lit up with white Christmas lights. It was magical. The tables were set with linens and we drank from fine crystal. It was country meets cultured!
The beautiful ladies from Art Tree Studio got us all going and did a miraculous job of instilling confidence into each one, convincing us that we could actually do this, and they were right! Their instructions and demonstrations were clear, and thorough. They were available to answer any and all questions, and made us feel successful in our project.

The theme was 'All Things Cherries'. The painting was a pair of cherries, with lots of texture. Decadent desserts included: Cherry Cheesecake Bars, Vanilla Bean Scones with honey Greek yogurt and cherry jam, and Black Forest Brownie Bites. Fresh, pressed cherry juice was served in crystal glasses, along with 1-year-old cherry wine, made with cherries from the orchard. A handmade wooden bowl from my friend Grant was full with fresh apples from one of our trees. A variety of red flowers added the final touch.
It was a delightful evening, full of laughs, successes, accomplishments, great food and drink. Each participant received a Cherries-Just Right book, along with a free digital copy, and their canvas painting to take home. This was definitely a night to remember, and one we well try to do again!
